Campaign Diary – Monday 26th (just a day in the life of a candidate) After collapsing into bed Sunday following a baking hot and busy weekend, awoke at 5am to another beautiful Manawatu day. Got on the road by 6am to finish some last newspaper deliveries around Longburn. Passed my colleagues waving signs heading back into town (tooted and waved back…). The met with a group of 30 from the real estate sector who gave me great first-hand insight into what Council did well and where improvements could be made. Onward to visit several retailers where the message was all the same on Parking and CBD. Was invited to lunch with a central city Oxford St family and then onto door knocking in the afternoon and early evening around Marne St, Havill St and Waterloo Tce areas, bumping into my son Regan and his flatmates along the way! Finished the day with a campaign team meeting and then back to answering people’s questions on Facebook and email. Bedtime already!
