Campaign intro from Mechwarrior3. Quite possibly the most accurate - TopicsExpress

Campaign intro from Mechwarrior3. Quite possibly the most accurate Battletech 3-d game created. The Mechlab screens were almost identical to the board games sheets for weapon and critical allocation. Many of my gaming mechs got their testing in this engine. It is also epic for its immersive feel. The story is of a single pilot (builds to a full lance of four mechs) and support team on a forced march through enemy territory, wreaking havoc all the way, just for a singular chance to be able to escape the planet. For some background, this takes place some time after the initial Clan invasion of the Inner-sphere. The Star League has reformed with the Clan threat and the marriage of Victor Davion to Mellissa Steiner (if I remember correctly), the archons of two major houses encompassing almost half the inner-sphere between them. Comstar (the cult like group who have an unbreakable control of Sol) break from their thousand year neutral policy (whilst the other houses fought it out for territory over four succession wars) and battle the Clan juggernaut to a standstill, forcing a thirty-year cease-fire beyond a certain line of star systems and giving the Star League a chance to get its legs again. The clans start battling between themselves, partly over who is to blame for failing to take the I-S, but also to maintain their battle prowess. One clan is crushed and absorbed into another, Clan Wolf is declared dishonored, and the Jade Falcons are reeling from their being the largest provider of troops to the invasion. Victor Steiner-Davion leads the Star League in an outright challenge against the Smoke Jaguars, seeing weakness in their remnants and challenging them to fair combat on their homeworld, the most dangerous and insulting thing a free-birth can do to a Clan. Meanwhile, elements of the league, largely from the Eridanni Light-Horse brigade, make a hard strike against Tranquil in an effort to cripple the remaining command and control for the Jaguars in the sector. (whew) Im not sure whether its impressive or scary that I know this stuff from memory. youtube/watch?v=_qZvYwmgCHc
