Camper Van So I guess every good story has another story - TopicsExpress

Camper Van So I guess every good story has another story already built into it. I feel like some of you deserve the truth about my recent camper van discussion. You see, this summer I was in the Fairview Community Theater production of the Music Man. Those of you that know me might just be able to guess which part I played. And it did cause my wife and I just a little stress. But I was able to discover something about myself that I’ve never known before: When I get stressed out, I don’t cry in a corner, I don’t yell at people, I don’t get intoxicated. I do research. I learned that I did that during the last several years of state band contest. Since 2007 I’ve looked at everything from sunglasses to laptops to cell phones. It’s just my coping mechanism. So fast forward to June. It’s getting to be crunch time for the production and I need to unload and I think to myself, “Wouldn’t it be great to just pack up and get away”. Then my beautiful wife says, “Only if it’s cheap”. And with that, BOOM my obsession was born. I needed to know everything about Recreational Vehicles. I liked the idea of campers but not trailers. Maybe a truck topper or a class C. Then I saw a Roadtrek 190 Popular. I love the idea of being able to have my camper be a second vehicle. That, and they have the convience of having everything included inside as well as room to exist and move around. I had to know every detail, large and small. Wife loved the idea, but was done with the words: Camper and Van. Which leads us to here. There are no Roadtreks for sale in the state of Oklahoma that I could find. So, I had convinced myself that wife and I should go to the RV show in Oklahoma city during fall break. then we could take a rental out and find out just how perfect it is for us. well, Roadtrek was not coming to OKC for the RV show. I was so completely devastated. I wanted to look at a 2002-2008 Roadtrek 170 Popular or a 190 Popular. We really need the third seat that converts into another bed for Boo (the cutest child in the world). I didn’t think I was asking too much. Now, last Sunday, we were on our way out of town to go see my nephew for his birthday and behold what is this? Parked at a house just off the highway in my very own hometown with a population less than 5,000 is a 2005 Roadtrek 190 Popular 30th Anniversary Silver Edition. Why do I know this? Because I’m psychotic in my research. A little Facebook connecting later, and We went out to look at it on Tuesday. This has done absolutely nothing to deter me from getting one. Even the 190, that I thought would be too big, looks amazing. And it would look even better parked in my driveway. While I still haven’t been anywhere near a 170, I know that either would fit our style of living. That freedom of taking off for a three day weekend tour around the great midwest, is what we’re looking for. I don’t know that we would be boon docking or setting up for weeks at a time in the RV park. I don’t really want to give my daughter junk or stuff. I want to give her life long memories of her family out on the open road going to see the world’s largest ball of yarn or the world’s largest purple spoon. It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey to get there. Thank you for reading!
