Campus like Hogwarts, crazy animals like box jellyfish, willy wagtails, laughing kookaburras, and deadly spiders (and yes, kangaroos); Blue Mountains, Cockatoo Island and the convict origins, Aboriginal history, Boat Harbor, Royal National Park, Whitsundays, Whitehaven Beach, the Great Barrier Reef, Wilco and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at Sydney Opera House; “How’re your going, “heaps,” “that’s slack,” “too easy,” (I must’ve forgotten many), “it took ages,” “keen,” more stereotypical ones: “g’day,” “mate,””cheers,” “z” pronounced “zedd”; Vegemite (yuck), Campos and at least two cafes on every block, pavlova, meat pies (yuck), Lamingtons’, kebabs (yuck) (on second thought, distinctively Australian food isn’t very good…) Enough? No, more: Crazy casual and foul mouthed politicians, the wide open desert, cigarette cartons with pictures of cancer on them, Ben Lee, Melbourne, Sydney Beaches: Manly (not to mention Sydney ferries!), Bondi, Coogee, and Milk (cliffs!); Bicentennial Park, Chinese Gardens of Friendship, Bogans (boo) Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Pendolino’s, World Bar, Stitch Bar, Yaya, AFL at the MCG, gold coins, National Gallery of Victoria, Museum of Contemporary Art. Crazy Creek Street: Lisa Pisa, Koen Bosman, Rachel Ann Bennell, Jack Hurdidge, Paul, Angus, Boy, Brad, and...Colin? Nah. And John Weiss-- see you in Miami and thank you for being a great roommate and friend. Crazy love for Niklas Doubleu (and all other international students I have failed to tag), Jessica Qi, the lovely and delightfully uninformative Australian liaison, and of course, the love of my life, Crystal Pettit!
