Can any of my learned Gaelic friends help me with a question. Does anybody kow where Duncan Johnston ( of Cronan nan Tonn etc ) lived in Glasgow? In my research of my grandfathers books (he was a minister in Glasgow in the 30s and 40s), I have come across a letter to him from a Duncan Johnston about a song lecture my grandfather was to give about Paul Robson in 1942. (I never knew him but he had a beautiful voice and was known as The Singing Minister) Its a beautifully written letter and I would love to know if this is the same Duncan Johnston. There is no mention of Gaelic in the letter but there would be no reason to I suppose. Also any of my Govan friends- do you remember/know anything about my grandfathers church - the Macgregor Memorial Church? I believe it is now demolished. I am trying to track down some recordings of my grandfathers singing ( he recorded for the BBC apparently) as I have never heard him and would love to know what he sounded like. He died suddenly long before I was born, after insisting on taking himself from his sick bed of pneumonia, to visit and sing for a sick parishioner.
