Can someone explain why nobody is marching this horn any more (there is a 3 valved B flat version)? For those of you who dont know, it is a French horn. It is not a mellophone. Ive heard people refer to the mellophone as a marching french horn but they are not the same. The marching french horn has a distinct, and very different sound. They were both important to the sound of drum corps in the 70s & 80s. Is anyone marching these horns any more? Anyone know the history of its disapearance? I miss the sound. Just curious.
