Can someone please explain to me why so many race fans are up in arms about NASCAR granting Tony Stewart an exemption to make the Chase?! Once the new Chase format was announced, Mike Helton had said that if a driver misses a race for whatever reason the team could file for an exemption. Tony Stewart didnt miss a race because on an injury, medical reasons or because he just wanted to take some time off from the sport. He was involved in a tragic accident where a young and upcoming driver lost his life. Tony Stewart chose to step out of the car over emotional reasons and also probably because thats what his lawyer advised him to do. No one can tell me that if this accident wouldnt have happened, Tony Stewart wouldnt have qualified for all the races prior to the Chase and wouldnt be in the top-30 in the points. One other point that Id like to touch on, NASCAR didnt put Tony Stewart in the Chase. He has to win @Richmond to make it into the Chase! I guess the fans that are complaining are the fans of the drivers who have no chance on making it into the Chase.
