Can we ever talk of democracy under the colonial political system - TopicsExpress

Can we ever talk of democracy under the colonial political system and structure that we inherited? What has changed is the who is running the system but not the system. If the system was a system of oppression, it remains a system of oppression. Zanu PF is in charge of this political system today and the MDC is fighting to take control of this system. A system that is foreign and a system which does not enhance democracy. Because of this wicked political system which is in existence internationally; since the system was hatched from the west and spread internationallly through the process of colonialism, we can never attain democracy under it. Even upto this day, there is no democracy in the west; the so called champions of democracy. Changing our political system becomes imperative. We have to be distinct and at the same time championing real democracy. Both MDC and Zanu PF are called for to introduce a theoretical political system other than the one we inherited, a system that can enhance real democracy. Outside this, the two political parties will remain nothing but champions of foreign thoughts and not African thpughts.
