Can we talk compost? I feel like Ive done the research but yet I am a compost failure. Ive got ONE tumbler that for 2 years now, each week I dump into it: organic fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grinds and filter, tea bags, lawn clippings and some water. I tumble after each dump. My issues- the past 2 months I have this massive worm/maggot(?) infestation in it - like trillions of them. Is this normal? I can see & hear them move when I open lid. Worms are less than inch long. Before this invasion it seemed like I had bigger slug like worms and everything got broken down so fast there was nothing left to spread in the garden. ??? Also - if I only have one tumbler and its always brewing, how do I use any on my gardens? Do I have to get a second one? Lastly - do piles also attracts all these worms things? I feel like a huge compost failure. Any and all suggestions welcome. I want to mention we organic eat & garden - so all organic stuff goes in the tumbler - in the event that would impact your reply.
