Can you believe it? Pam was to be discharged from hospital today - TopicsExpress

Can you believe it? Pam was to be discharged from hospital today and was ecstatic at the prospect of coming home. Dad and I were so relieved too as trying to get to hospital even Totnes, has really knocked him for six with his Parkinsons. But we had a call from Pam at lunchtime, she had rung the bell for the nurse to go to the look, but hadnt waited for her to come. The loo is opposite her bed, so probably only 10 ft away., but she felt her legs starting to go by the time she got to the loo. Instead of pressing the emergency button for the nurse, she tried to get herself back to her chair. She fell and now has a suspected broken leg, and the ambulance that was to bring her home, took her instead to A and E at Torbay hospital. I just cant believe it. My dad is absolutely knocked sideways, making his Parkinsons much worse. I rang the ward and asked if there was any chance she could be brought back there as to have to go to Torbay again daily, would kill my Dad. He already has gone downhill drastically with the stress of the last month. I also have a 5 day foundation course here next week, and simply couldnt take him anyway. I had arranged carers for Pam to start tonight so I still have him coming to meet us and at least know that we are covered if I need help with Dad too. Fortuitously for us, too, my nephew Richard who is a builder, had a job cancelled next week so can do the base for the cabin we are having built as a bedsit for a live in carer to give them their own separate space. So now we wait on news from Torbay as to what happens next. I wonder when our luck will change, if ever?
