Can you believe that I have now hit seven months?!?! I sure cant! - TopicsExpress

Can you believe that I have now hit seven months?!?! I sure cant! Time is flying way too fast! So... This last week we had Zone Training Meeting, which was amazing! And I learned a ton! But, the bulk of this letter well come from what happened after zone training meeting, and what happened on Friday. :) After zone training meeting we were handed a piece of paper that had on it a media referral! So happy to be able to get one! I have never had one before! Unfortunately, this referral had nothing on it except a name, and a city. The City was Van Horne. No phone number, no address. So we stalked them on white pages! Ha! Found an address, but not a phone number.... so we decided to be obedient missionaries and go contact the referral as soon as possible! :) We left for Van Horne on Friday. So most of the way there is just a bunch of gravel roads. and we get about a half mile away, and find a sign that says Rock Ends Doesnt sound too good. We try it anyway. About thirty feet down the road, going through about 3 inches deep of mud, we decided that our car was not going to make it. So we backed out. And decided to walk the last half mile to our destination. Joy. Haha, so we begin! Corn field on the left, and corn field on the right; typical of Iowa, right?!? Haha! Oh, not to mention, the one on the left, yeah, it smelled as though it had just been fertilized....smelled great! Let me tell ya! Not! Anyways, so we are walking down this strip of grass, muddy road on the one side, ditch with spring runoff and leftover snow on the right..... Then we find out that our wonderful strip of grass ends. Oh by the way, I had shined my shoes that morning.... So we now have to make a decision, muddy road, or somehow get across the snow and spring runoff onto the field. We chose the latter! And so now we are walking along on top of overturned corn stalks and a whole bunch of weeds! Yeah, remember my shoes, not so polished anymore. So we continue our journey, and find that the runoff from the snow was coming out of the field as well! And it is all coming to one low spot! Well, we now had to cross this low spot, and fortunately for us, there were some concrete block spaced about a hop skip an a jump away! So we could make it to the other side! Yay! Till we found out the middle one was on a pivot! Elder Manning almost fell in! :P We continued. I almost stepped on a rabbit. Elder Manning kept seeing field mice, and it was a blast! Finally, we get to the house, which looks abandoned.. We walk up to the front door, and notice that the screen door is almost ripped in half, and the front door is literally bolted shut! Umm... So we walk around back and see a car! It has a flat tire...Umm...Then we walk to the back door, and the window is broken....umm...Fun stuff! Crazy! We now have a problem.. Nobody lives in this place! so we had our half mile back walk. And went to our next appointment. That next appointment was amazing! We had the wonderful opportunity to speak with a less-active and invite her to come back to church! She felt the spirit soo strong! :) Loved It After that, we came home and planned out our next day, and we planned to see this lady that we hadnt seen in a while! So she asked if we had had any adventures lately, and we told her of the one we had had! She then asked who it was we were trying to see...we told her...and can you believe it, one of the names was her daughter, and the other was her son-in-law! Crazy! Definitely led to visit her! :) Love the Spirit of God! Anyways, times up for me! Love you all! Elder Robert C. Bolinder
