Can you help? A request from Black Retriever X Rescue Have you ever experienced anything like this? An update on our own lovely Tickle. It is now about a month and the edema is getting worse, not better. Our vets stance has been that he thinks there is a malfunctioning lymph node but that without costly investigations (one assumes a lyphangiogram/CT scan) it is difficult to know whats causing it. Tickle is absolutely fine in herself. She is eating well, playing well, walking well, still grumping at the puppy when she oversteps the mark. It is not painful. There is no infection. She does not have a temperature. And although it looks grim, it doesnt seem to bother her at all. It is only evident on her face and the fluid also gathers in a fairly clearly-defined pocked at throat level. Massage helps a bit, if only to move the fluid around a bit. But it is definitely getting worse not better. I have been reading up on lymphedema (primary and secondary) and see that warm compresses may help and that the condition might come and go. But it is quite unusual for it to be just on the face and nowhere else. If the edema doesnt resolve there would appear to be a risk of cellulitis/fibrosis which can lead to infections. So this is just to ask again if anyone has experienced anything like it... if there are any specialists that might be able to help... or any other brilliant ideas? Please feel free to share to anyone you think might have some useful input!
