Can you help? Bridge communities helps families who are at risk of becoming homeless. Check out this video for more information about this important ministry and how they are transforming lives. https://youtube/watch?v=Fnq5-3iHLF8 Our Saviours is looking for 2 mentors to help a single mom of an elementary-aged son and daughter. This family is currently homeless and living with various friends. The mother grew up wealthy in Rwanda until in the 1st grade when she was forced to move to refugee camps in the Congo and then Zambia due to war. During that time, both of her parents were killed. At age 13, she moved to the US and was adopted by an uncle. Her daughter was born at age 17. She suffered domestic abuse from her son’s father and left him. Since then she has been staying with friends to remain off the streets. What does being a mentor for this family involve? Meet with the family on a weekly basis to help provide budget, providing emotional support, and guiding in life-skills necessary for self-sufficiency. Bridge Communities will provide all the training you will need. Will you help? The first meeting with the Bridge case manager is next Thursday, 1/15 and we would love to have our new mentors join us. We are also looking for volunteers to help drive the church van and help to move this family into a new apartment. Interested in more information? Contact Julie Neustadt at jneustadt@wideopenwest or at 630-416-6324.
