Can you spot us here? Go on. The conceit we often barely hide in our biological scheme of things can be put into perspective by noticing how miniscule a % we take up, in both time and space, of everything, we have ever known to have lived.. so far. And it is clear, we are not the end game, by a long shot. It is not to show how inconsequential we are, as much as to point to how much bigger we can be, in being one of the first beings to become aware of, to categorize, to classify, to understand & to scientifically grasp, this wonderful, far larger biosphere that birthed us. And to not ignore this hard-fought understanding. Of being the tiny viral medium left on an accidentally moulded, melting Petrie dish on the edge of a vast nuclear reactor, that went, Ah!, upon reaching out to grasp that there was out there, reactor, dish And virus. And even more so, suddenly seeing the strings and knots that bind reactor, dish and virus, to be the ones to audaciously try and unravel them. All the while looking for other Petrie dishes too. Therein, lies the marvel. It would be a shame to lose this perspective. ☮ . zo.utexas.edu/faculty/antisense/tree.pdf
