Cant sleep so Im going to post about something that happened when I took Coco to get a bite to eat at mcds in Bellevue before practice. I decided to park and walk in and got a call from my friend Kirk on the cell. As Im talking to him an elderly lady parked in the handicapped spot w her husband and walker walked up to me asking for help. Her husband had locked them out of their late model Buick w the engine running and windows partially down. I told her id ask the manager if they have a protocol to help folks in their driveway. I spoke to the manager and at first he didnt want to assist but pointed me to police or AAA. I told them they were elderly and needed help. I walked out and we got her husband to slowly walk into the restaurant - it was 93 outside and he was holding himself up by his walker. The manager helped get him inside in the air conditioned lobby but his wife did not want to leave her car. I had coco try to see if she could reach the unlock button through the cracked window but it did not work. The manager came out w a long metal pole with a hook on the end of it and unlocked the car. The lady was so grateful and the manager humbly told her no problem :). I walked in to the restaurant w Coco and we told her husband, who was shaking inside, that the manager had unlocked the door. We got Cocos food and headed to practice and on the way out this lady thanked us both for helping again. On the drive out I started tearing up thinking my own parents will someday be in this position in Houston and I hope someone helps them. Hope Coco remembers how important it is to help people.
