Cantors Telephone message for October 31-Nov.1, 2014: This weeks Torah portion begins with the call to our ancestor Avram, Lech lecha - go forth from your land, your birthplace, your fathers house, to the land that I will show you. (Gen. 12:1) God promises Avram to make of you a great nation, and I will bless you. (Gen. 12:2.) We are the spiritual descendants of Abraham and Sarah. May we merit Gods blessings. We welcome Shabbat in the PTBAS sanctuary this evening. Tomorrow mornings service in the social hall will be followed by a Bring-A-Lunch and Learn session on Israel/Diaspora relations as we continue to deepen our understanding of our relationship to the land the Torah speaks of as promised to Avram. The news that the Temple Mount was re-opened today is encouraging. In the words of Psalm 122, Shaalu shlom Yerushalayim - Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be secure.
