Cape Foulweather Shrouded in fog and always windy (often 100 mph winds during winter months), Cape Foulweather was aptly named by Captain Cook in 1778. Our first stop on our trip to the central Oregon coast began at Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint - a lovely walking path and a funky gift shop. The fog rolled in and obscured the Yaquina Head Lighthouse to the south and the wind blew relentlessly, but the blue sky was gorgeous.
