Cape Town Dining. Are three of the Capes top restaurants in danger of closing down? That has been a question doing the rounds lately since rumors that the well known wine estate Constantia Uitsig has been sold. Although at this point the media have been getting conflicting reports regarding the sale of the estate. Sources have already insisted that Uitsig has been sold while realtors have argued that the deal is still up in the air. The wine estate is set on 63 hectares of land and includes three restaurants, a hotel, a spa and a cricket oval. The estate is home to restaurants, The River Cafe, La Colombe and Constantia Uitsig has been put onto the market at a whopping price of R175 million. La Colombe has frequently been named one of the top restaurants in the country while Constantia Uitsig has regularly been voted as one of the top 10 restaurants in the Western Cape. La Colombe has won several awards over the years and was placed 12th in the San Pellegrino 50 best restaurants in the world awards. None of the restaurants have offered comments on their futures, although restaurant Constantia Uitsig has admitted that they will not be taking bookings from the end of October of this year. It has been suggested that any potential owner may choose to focus on the estates production of wine rather than the restaurants that are located on the property. Along with the three above mentioned restaurants, Constantia Uitsig also has both a hotel and spa which draws in guests both locally and abroad. At this time, everything has been left to mere speculation, but we here at Cape Town Dining will be keeping users updated as to the future of this immensely popular estate.
