Captain Superhero versus Skull Croat. Giza Egypt, 2499 B.C. I - TopicsExpress

Captain Superhero versus Skull Croat. Giza Egypt, 2499 B.C. I placed this illustration just before the Confrontation With Skull Croat scene right under the time lord Epochalus’ prediction that “One will die”, to imply that this picture is a spoiler that Captain Superhero will be the one to die on that mission. I’m not that obvious. I made that allusion just to mess with the readers’ heads. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens, and which Retaliator dies on this mission, if any. I will say, just on this Facebook post, that it’s not Captain Superhero. Although, in a way, it is. I’ll explain: The Delta Ray Disseminator is designed for maximum damage, and the technology is exclusive to the Balkan Royal Family of the 40th and 41st centuries. It’s not a disintegrator, disintegrators are more merciful. It destroys every cell in the body, like a mini explosion/combustion. For humans and non-resilient superhumans, death is almost instantaneous. But in that brief moment of “almost instantaneous” they experience more pain all at once than any other form of death provides. It’s a sick sadistic invention. And it can pass through walls, until it connects with a body, a computer, a robot or some other such target. Resilient superhumans have a chance to survive it, but even Mars was harshly affected by it, and later speculated that if he were subjected to the ray for a prolonged period, there might come a point where he would pass away. Flash Anderson, the man who is Captain Superhero, is a superhuman with enhanced strength and durability. He was shot 3 times by the Delta Ray Disseminator. He survived, barely, and after the mission was over and he was hospitalized, his doctors were certain that he wouldn’t have survived a fourth shot. He barely survived the third. After he heals, he’s left with honeycomb shaped scarring all over his entire body, including his face. After he’s incapacitated here, Skull Croat will steal his armor. Skull Croat is a collector, but more than that, he’s a time lord in the making, and he gains power by shuffling artifacts across different timelines. After the mission in ancient Egypt, by the time Flash has recovered and is ready for duty again, Reddingfield Innovations will have made for him a new, more modern armor. Instead of strap on leg and arm armor, it will cover his body completely. And it will have a full head helmet with the logo “CS” for “Captain Superhero”. It won’t be equipped with a strength harness like Tech War’s armor, because Captain Superhero is already strength enhanced, and strength harnesses are dangerous anyway, if it malfunctions, it can grind you up inside the armor. So, his new armor is designed for protection of the warrior inside. His new armor will still have wings, but they’ll be F-type, and will be powered by solid condensed fuel, like the kind Tech War uses. Flash is not so superficial that his scars will prevent him from showing his face in public, but the fact that his new full head helmet covers his face completely is somewhat of a relief to him. After Doom’s Dawn, Captain Superhero will be busted and decommissioned for unauthorized time travel. Half in protest of his chastisement and half as self-admonishment, he’ll add a white dropping beneath the eagle emblem and change his name to Cadet Shitbird. The CS logo on his helmet still fits that. As Cadet Shitbird, Flash is darker, more antihero. But a hero, always. In 1992 he’ll get a chance to knock three of Skull Croat’s (the asshole who shot him in this illustration) teeth out, on Galaxie’s Gameworld. In a way, this illustration is the death of Captain Superhero, as we knew him. He’ll never be the same again.
