Car discussion with no resolution: what makes a particular song iconic or transcendent in a way that almost anyone knows its lyrics, and may be tempted to sing along, even if the song isnt necessarily a good song or a song one likes? Thinking songs like American Pie, Hotel California, You Shook Me All Night Long, Dont Stop Believing, Stairway to Heaven, etc. Songs that half a bar full of people will sing along to at the end of the night. How does a song become *that* song?
