Carbon #6: Found abundantly in stars, comets and the atmosphere - TopicsExpress

Carbon #6: Found abundantly in stars, comets and the atmosphere of most planets. Found in 3 forms: Amorphous (gel like substances), graphite (soft), and diamond (hard). Diamonds are found in some meterites, and in S. Africa volcanoes, and along the floor of the Cape of Good Horn. Nitrogen #7: Makes up 78% of the atmosphere on earth by volume. On Mars it only makes up 3% of the atmosphere. It is so inert that Lavoisier called it azote (w/o life). Found in foods, fertilizer and explosives. It is colorless and odorless.
