Career Technology Education board discusses 2015 legislative requests The State Board of Career and Technology Education discussed several items Thursday during a regular meeting, including 2015 legislative requests and an update on the board’s search for a new executive director. Dr. Marcie Mack, interim state director for the board, said with an increased state investment of $36.1 million in new appropriations, CareerTech hopes to: • Implement performance based funding. • Provide more funding for CareerTech in comprehensive schools. • Expand workforce development. • Grow STEM education • Become more data driven with technology and increase workforce investment. • Meet statutory health insurance requirements. A report presented by Mack indicated that Oklahoma will need 88,500 new workers with associate or credential certification within the next 10 years. CareerTech hopes to increase student participation in CareerTech offerings by 5 percent and increase its contribution to Complete College America by 10 percent. For full report, go to ecapitol.net
