Caricom Energy Week 2013 – Press Release CARICOM Energy Week will be celebrated from 10th to 16th November 2013 under the general theme “A Secure and Sustainable Energy Future begins NOW!” The Energy Week, which is an annual event on the calendar of The CARICOM Secretariat, is being coordinated by the Energy Unit of The Government of St. Vincent and The Grenadines, and is made possible this year through support from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. In general, Caricom Energy Week 2013 seeks to build awareness of critical energy issues in various segments of society at the National level but with significant focus on sustainable energy development. This focus is aimed at sensitizing the Region to the importance of pursuing a path of sustainable energy through a greater awareness and uptake of Renewable Energy and Energy efficiency in the interest of economic development. Activities scheduled for the week include media programmes, visits to selected secondary schools, a launch of the OECS Labelling Standards Project, a symposium and mini-expo with the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, and a National Energy Exhibition and energy walk at Heritage Square on Saturday 16th November.
