Carl Froch and George Groves will go head-to-head this weekend at Wembley, in a rematch that is set to become the biggest fight in British boxing history. The weigh-in has been scheduled to take place this Friday at 1pm, with the timing suited more favourably for the Nottingham-born champion. It will be staged at Wembley Stadium, the first boxing match to take place there since it re-opened in 2007. New Yorks Charlie Fitch is expected to referee the world title rematch, after Howard Foster was generally regarded as having acted prematurely in stopping the first fight in the ninth round. Many feel the first bout was stopped too early – something Groves certainly still feels extremely passionate about. Groves made an incredible start in the first meeting, when he floored Froch with a right hook in th first round, just as he had said he would do leading up to the November meeting. He continued to cause Froch problems, with his fast pace, seemingly unnerved by the momentous occassion. Froch, as he has done so many times, began to rebuild, and although behind on points entering the ninth round, he produced a convincing performance that troubled Groves. Referee Howard Foster stepped in when, for the first time during the fight, Groves appeared shaken by the sheer number of blows he received from Froch. The Manchester crowd that evening jeered the controversial decision and the talk of a rematch happened instantaneously, especially as Groves broke down in his post-match interview, heart-broken by the decision and here it is, coverage starts at 18h00 on Saturday evening and Ma Nolan’s will have the bout live in all bars! TJ Ryan will make his managerial debut with Limerick this weekend as his side takes on Tipperary in the Munster Championship. Even though Limerick havent won there since 1973, they are reigning provincial kingpins, something which seems to have been quickly forgotten. Theres no doubting Tipp enjoyed the better league. Since squeezing into the quarter-finals, they have gone from strength to strength and even ‘might’ have beaten Kilkenny in the final. Throw in at Semple Stadium is 17h00 on Sunday Roland Garros as usual keeps bringing us some great surprises and with the Second-round singles action kicking off on Wednesday with a series of marquee showdowns featuring some of the sports biggest names. On the mens side, world No. 2 Novak Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer headline the start of Round 2. Meanwhile, both Williams sisters and 2012 French Open championMaria Sharapova will all take to the court for their second-roundmatchups. All Ma Nolan’s will be showing as much of the action as possible. In the squad building exercises for the 2014 World Cup we have again this week a host of international friendlies being played out with a non World Cup Republic of Ireland side taking on Italy on Saturday night. England, France, Germany and many more are in action all be it not against so fractious opposition the games should at least give some idea into managers thought process. Remember friends if you do not see your game listed here please do ask your barman if we can find it for you, with the largest selection of sports channels from around the world on the Riviera we will do our best to find any game possible.
