Eskom warns of possible load shedding Mia Lindeque | Today, 06:23 JOHANNESBURG – Eskom has declared a power emergency due to the severe constraint on the power grid as a result of the rainy weather. Two weeks ago, the power giant also called an emergency, but says this time its more serious. The parastatal says a number of the power stations are battling to meet the demands made by customers. Eskoms Andrew Etzinger has asked large industrial customers and ordinary citizens to decrease their electricity usage to avoid possible load shedding. “Load shedding is certainly likely at this stage, the shortage is predicted to be more severe and at this stage were issuing a warning. But by reducing demand from all our customers, and this is what were calling for, we hope to avoid that.” Public Servant
