Carl Stuart Hamblen Stuart Hamblen 1908-1989 Born: October 20, 1908, Kellyville, Texas. Died: March 8, 1989, Santa Monica, California, of brain cancer. Buried: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. Hamblen hosted the Cowboy Church of the Air radio show (1938-52). He also acted, appearing in 1939 with Roy Rogers in The Arizona Kid, and with Gene Autrey in In Old Monterey, and in a 1946 movie serial, King of the Forest Rangers. In 1952, he ran for American president under the banner of the Prohibition Party. He was inducted into the Country/Western Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970, and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
