Carl Stuart Hamblen Stuart Hamblen 1908-1989 Born: Oc­to­ber 20, 1908, Kel­ly­ville, Tex­as. Died: March 8, 1989, San­ta Mon­i­ca, Cal­i­for­nia, of brain can­cer. Buried: For­est Lawn Me­mor­ial Park, Glen­dale, Cal­i­for­nia. Hamblen host­ed the Cow­boy Church of the Air ra­dio show (1938-52). He also act­ed, ap­pear­ing in 1939 with Roy Ro­gers in The Ar­i­zona Kid, and with Gene Au­trey in In Old Mon­te­rey, and in a 1946 mo­vie ser­i­al, King of the For­est Rang­ers. In 1952, he ran for Amer­i­can pre­si­dent un­der the ban­ner of the Pro­hi­bi­tion Par­ty. He was in­duct­ed in­to the Coun­try/West­ern Song­writ­ers Hall of Fame in 1970, and the Tex­as Coun­try Mu­sic Hall of Fame in 2001.
