Carnitas Recipe (slow cooker) 3-4 lbs of pork butt/ shoulder 1/3 packet of especias mixtas (see picture) (I get mine at Superior Market. Its the spice packets on the wall in a cellophane packet. The brand may vary. 79¢ to 99¢) One onion 1/4d then 1/2. (1/8ths I guess) 3-4 cloves of garlic 2 cups of chicken broth. ( I switched to mazola packets instead of Knorr) 1 packet= 2 cups of liquid. Oil Kosher Salt Black pepper 2 cups water 1. Heat 3-4 tablespoons of oil in large pan 2. Rinse and pat dry meat, 3. Poke Holes with sharp knife to place garlic in various parts of meat. 3. Liberally add salt and pepper on one side, place. That side down in pan. The add salt and pepper to top side. 4. Brown meat no more than 5 minutes per side. 5. Add onion to bottom of slow cooker. 6. Add meat. Far side up 7. Remove 1/3 packet of especias mixtas into sandwich bag. Use rolling pin and crush spices. Or use mallet. 8. Mix one packet of bouillon into 2 cups of water, (I dont bother boiling it) 9. Place liquid around meat. 10. Place crushed spices on top of meat. 11. Slow cook for 9 hours. Or fast at 4.5 hours. 12. Turn it over at 1/2 way point. If it falls apart already try to get meat into liquid. 13. At end, use two forks to split up meat.
