Carol Service 2014 - Article by Sue Daffon Once again this year, our Christmas service was a Carols by Candlelight on Moshate field. The wind blew, the rain rained, the wind blew some more, but the worship carried on, even though the candles were extinguished by the elements, the gazebos threaten to take off like Chinese lanterns and the speakers were muffled with green plastic bags for protection! Our guests from St Augustine’s Leap School took it all in their stride and sang with heartfelt sincerity. Our own musicians carried the service with the greatest aplomb in spite of microphones playing up and sheet music being scattered like snow flakes. But for one little boy, Keegan, nothing else mattered, other than knowing the birth of Jesus as he sang (with all the actions!) “Away in a Manger”. Truly the spirit of Christmas was alive that rainy, blustery night. Christmas Blessings to you all. Travel safely and know the peace and love of Christmas as you spend precious time with your families.
