Carolines Daily Prayer: Prayer is such a delicate thing. I often dont realize any more that I have slipped into prayer mode or seeing my life through the lens of holiness. Away from the world of Franciscan monks and back to ordinary life, it is easy to become distracted by noise and traffic, by airports and strangers and waiting in lines longer than one can handle. And then after traveling for hours and hours, dripping with airline exhaustion, I am greeted with the smiles of two people who are so happy to see me. I felt my spirit light up immediately - and just like that, I thought how amazing that the first thing that I encountered in this city was love. I didnt expect that. It occurred to me later as I settled into my hotel room - yet another hotel room - that being greeted by love in a foreign city is such a sweet blessing....God in the small details of ones life again and again. Why not greet a place with love? Its all about choice after all. I made the decision last night to let that choice become permanent in my heart - a living prayer. Some prayers are said once and others we decide are a constant within us. We just keep them as active parts of our hearts and slip into them, already in motion. We dont need to repeat them. These prayers slip into us, reminding us of how to see the world around us. We can see with love - just like that. What a powerful realization. —Caroline Myss
