Casino = Bad for Albany City Businesses Plain & Simple - so sick of uninformed people (many of which do not live within the city boundaries) yelling for the approval of such referendum. The economic benefit will not catch up to the amount of negative effects this casino would dishes out (increase criminal activity, addiction disorders, traffic congestion, decreased local business attraction etc). Sure it creates jobs (many of them temp positions with low wages), however, at what cost. What Albany really need are sustainable careers - jobs that will promote the citys lower to mid class with better wages (&benefits), where they can grow from and not stagnate at. Many urban studies and actual case studies prove that casinos are not the solution for job growth or the overall health of a city. Instead most people only see the short term effects, rather the long term benefits - funny that this approach seems to resonate out to other issues too.
