Casting Net: Matt Damon may have laughed off speculation that he’d play Robin to Ben Affleck’s Batman, but he will be teaming up with The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan for Interstellar. He’ll join the Iceland-based production of the secretive time travel epic starring Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Matthew McConaughey for two weeks out of the four month shoot. Damon’s “small role” is, naturally, being kept under wraps. The large ensemble cast also boasts Casey Affleck, David Oyelowo, Topher Grace, Michael Caine, John Lithgow, and Ellen Burstyn. This marks Damon’s first time working with Nolan. Jessica Alba (Sin City) gets to play a villain in Kyle Newman’s Barely Lethal, which stars Hailee Steinfeld and Samuel L. Jackson. When Steinfeld’s teen assassin tries to get out and lead a normal life, Alba continues to pursue her. Alba can be seen next in the Adam Scott-starrer A.C.O.D., as well as Machete Kills, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan) and Sean Young (Blade Runner) have joined the crime thriller Kickback, alongside John Cusack, Mischa Barton, and Sean Astin. The story follows a Moscow-based detective who gets tied up in a plot “involving chemical warfare and the assassination of the Russian president” all while investigating the murder of a war correspondent. Teen Beach Movie star John DeLuca will play the lead role in Staten Island Summer, a coming-of-age film about a group of friends who take on lifeguarding jobs before heading to college. Rhys Thomas, a British television actor, is directing the movie, which also stars Graham Phillips (Zach Florrick on The Good Wife) and Zach Pearlman (The Inbetweeners).
