Chairperson’s Report:~ Club Chairperson Ned Farrell thanked everyone for attending, all committee members also his top table committee members including Tony Dillon (Treasurer), Ivan O’Donnell (Secretary), Mark Foley (Vice Chairperson), and all officers in the Club for their hard earned efforts throughout the year. He also thanked all volunteers who did a sterling job is fixing a lot of damage to our facilities / fields during the savage storms that occurred earlier in the year. He also praised Mike Griffin, Brian Riordan, and all other unsung heroes who help maintained the facilities and fields to a high quality. Ned then mentioned Seanie Gilbert, Bridget McElligott, Mark Carroll, all outgoing top table of 2013 who initially helped incoming committee get settled into new role, but it still was a very challenging year for top table in 2014. Ned also thanked all the Managers, Trainers, and selectors for their help throughout the season, including the Junior ‘A’ team winning the South 3 years in a row, and also Minor team combined with Bruree, winning a County Minor ‘B’ Championship. Junior ‘B’ Hurlers and Junior ‘A’ Footballers had a quiet season, but again Thanks to Trevor Hughes, Fergal Fitzgerald and all players here. Our Under 21 Hurlers had heartbreak when they were beaten by a point against Sean Og’s in the South Final in April ’14, and still breaks some our hearts when we think of it, but that is sport. Again Ivan thanked Joackim O’Kelly (Manager), Ed O’Donnell (Trainer), and Andrew Twomey (Selector). Finally Ivan mentioned our Minor team who combined with Bruree and called Killacolla Gaels won a South Minor Football title and then also a South Minor Hurling title and went on to win the Limerick County Minor ‘B’ title against a gallant Cappamore side. Ivan thanked Tony and Con Dillon from CTB GAA Club and also Brendan Hogan and James Vincent O’Brien (Bruree GAA Club) for managing and training this team. This was a great win, and hopefully now this partnership will continue again at Minor and at U21 level going forward. Ivan then mentioned that Club cost of injuries to players were lower this year due to a new controlled procedure being put in place, which resulted in decreasing medical costs and again will need to be tightly controlled in 2015. Ivan also thanked all players and non members who paid their registration fees so promptly this year. Ivan concluded by stating that in general most members got their requested tickets when requested to watch Limerick hurlers this year. Tony also highlighted that the Club gave money towards the Field Development Association (FDA) costs which was greatly appreciated by Chairman John Brady and the FDA Committee. Limerick Development Draw membership was down on 2013 and it hoped this figure and also number of promoters will go up in 2015. Tony also Thanked all promoters here for their efforts and commitment in the Limerick Development Draw, plus also all promoters of our Club’s Lotto draw, as they are our 2 key fund raising activities we have in raising money for the Junior Club. Tony also stressed that like most Clubs in the current economic climate, funding for 2015 will again be a prime consideration, and every effort will be made to ensure we have enough income coming in, (including Pub Quiz on 30th Jan. ’15) while closely monitoring outgoing costs, and controlling / reducing as much as we can. Special Awards:~ Clubman of the Year went to another very well deserved and worthy winner in Ivan O’Donnell. This was Ivan’s first year involved in the Club’s activities at any level, and to come on board as Secretary, was a baptism of fire one could say, but he was an unanimous winner as he did an absolute outstanding job, showing great drive, energy, initiative, commitment, administration and communication skills sets to get the job done, plus doing all this with a smile on his face. Christmas Monster Bingo held in Charleville Park Hotel ~ 10th Dec. ‘14 Once again sincere Thank You, to each and every Bingo person from far and wide and also especially from our local Clubs, parish and community who supported us and attended our very successful Christmas Monster Bingo event in the excellent Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday evening ~ 10th Dec. ’14, and this was a key fund raiser for our CTB Field Development Association (FDA) in conjunction with our CTB GAA Clubs and Ballagran Camogie Club. In summary, on a good enough night weather wise, we really did have a great turn out as yet again, a very loyal set of supporters (plus new acquaintances) both from our local community and also general Bingo goers descended on to the Charleville Park Hotel to play Bingo and judging by all the positive feedback received afterwards, everyone also had a great night’s entertainment as well which is very important to us. It really is a great venue in a lovely nice comfortable spacious and fully heated function room complete with teas / coffees served at the interval, and guaranteed total prize money of €4,000 to be won, which is a combination of the Bingo prizes plus the Raffle prizes, and which is great prize money in this economic climate. And seemingly a good percentage of local people won, so congratulations to them all, especially including one of our own ~ Phil Fitzgerald who had a nice win, and congratulations all round. Well done indeed. So wish to extend a blanket Thank You to every person / all committee members who helped in any way, however small to ensure a successful and very well organized event ~ Thank You. A lot of ground work went on behind the scenes leading up to this event, and thankfully all this hard work paid off. Good job also to Fr. Shire, Tom Carroll, John Slevin and new ‘payer outer’ Ivan O’Donnell for ensuring all was in order when lucky winners cried out check! Also huge thanks to Barbara and all their staff in the Charleville Park Hotel for doing a great job before, during, and after this event, plus local radio station stations including Jimmy Reidy of County Sound for their help / support, Grace Dowling in 95FM, and also all other radio stations / newspapers, plus especially great help from Norma of the Vale Star, and anyone else who helped on the promotional side. Well done to Gerry Dolan our Social Media guru and also our leading raffle ticket sales man of the year who retained his title (again!) against stiff opposition ~ so well done again John Clancy! Thanks as always as well to our excellent MC for the evening John Hawe, who again did a fabulous job of calling out the numbers in a very steady, calm, clear and audible manner. Thanks also to Santa for making a guest appearance, and to all those people who donated spot prizes for the raffle which was greatly appreciated. Also just to re~iterate all proceeds from this evening goes directly towards servicing our field loan for Year 3, plus financing the substantial day to day running expenses of the club, so Thanks again to all who supported us. It really is appreciated. Finally, we are now holding a Paddy’s Monster Bingo Event again in the Charleville Park Hotel, Charleville, on 11th March ’15 so please make a note in your calendars / diaries, where hopefully we will have another great and enjoyable night, including St. Patrick’s spirit in abundance, together with lots of happy winners again.
