Catch a swell, catch a wave to another inspiring place. Coming out of our caves. Quick update on our sweet Deonna Keiser. She had a pretty rough day yesterday. No major setbacks but she is still having a lot of discomfort from her surgery. Her attitude is good even though I can tell that she is just plain sick and tired of being sick and tired. To a much lesser extent l know the feeling. No word yet on when she might be able to be moved to a closer facility. Really hoping it is soon. The staff at Swedish Cherry Hill is amazing but it is long past time for us to be moving on. As her pain and swelling have continued to dissipate the mobility on her right side has continued to increase. I am now confident that with a ton of hard work she can regain full mobility of her right side. This means no wheelchair and only using a cane for a short period of time. Boooyaa!!! Now her communication skills are a whole other story. She has not shown much progress in this area since the second week when she started to blurt out some random words. She can be coaxed into saying a few more words here and there but she has still not been able to form any coherent phrases or sentences. I fear that there may be some comprehension and memory issues as well. It is really hard to tell because of her inability to communicate. Time to dig in for the long fight on this one. I just hope to have her home soon. As long as she can walk around and help take care of herself. Maybe do a little laundry and the dishes. As pretty as she is who really needs to hear her speak anyhow? JK ;)
