Catching Fire My Review - I watched it last night. I liked it. Liked but not loved. I was close though. It was hard to find fault with the movie throughout. The acting all around was impeccable. Jennifer Lawrence deserves her rave reviews but even Josh Hutcherson plays his part with subtle perfection. It would be very easy to mess up his role. Its not as simple as it looks but he makes you believe that he is indeed lost in his depressing world of unrequited love while still remaining faithful and devoted to his hearts desire. Anybody whos been there gets it and will connect. The issues with the film, for me anyway, came in hindsight. In the moments where everything is wrapped up and explained Im left thinking WHAT? YOU IDIOTS! SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED IT BUT WISH TO. I mean, if the whole goal was to help Katniss escape and save her from death, then why in the name of President Snow did the Gamemaker create deathly opposition for her to encounter which, if not for a LOT of luck, would have killed her? That makes NO SENSE! If she hadnt woken up when on sentry duty she, and all of the others in their alliance would have died from the silent but deadly gas (reminds me of a fart joke). Wheres your rebellion leader now Woody, Hoffman and Thors brother? Oh you opened up a can of boil inducing green gas while she was sleeping? Whos bright idea was that? When the contestants figured out how the clock worked what does the Gamedude do? Spins it on them which again almost leads to the death of the very girl hes meant to be saving. Also, another question, where does she keep getting all of her arrows? VERDICT: Acting - 8.5/10 Story - 7/10 FX - 8.5/10 Stupid Factor - 14/10
