Catching up on some reading while sitting in the motor home lot. Very enlightening. The author contends that the origins of the new deal collapse of traditional constitutional jurisprudence has its roots in the evangelical push to use the law to stamp out sin. The allowance of a few moral regulations, writing out of the contracts clause and commerce clause in favor of the criminalization of demon rum and lotteries led to inconsistencies that weakened the justifications for keeping with traditional jurisprudence with regard to the commerce clause. Interesting reading, for sure. Dont like obamacare? Blame the religious right.
