Liberation rather than oppression, salvation rather than damnation, is the ultimate purpose of religion. Isaiah rightly proclaims that Yahweh gives strength to the enfeebled, vigour to the wearied so that no one may grow tired and faint. Jesus, with His gentle meekness, unbounded comprehension and unconditional love, consoles and comforts us. His Gospel is not a yoke of oppression, rather a refreshing grace that infuses courage, strength, renewal and regeneration.
