Cathy are big fans of Grand Designs. On reflection, this is why. Kevin McCloud nails it. Grand designers are, by and large, people with vision. Typically, they dont have the budget, or even skills, to realise their dreams, but they have vision. They believe in the possible. They think their way through the problems and constraints. They dont take convention so seriously that it limits their thinking in whats possible. In fact, if anything, the constraints and limitations, spur them on to think even more creatively. And the answers and solutions often challenge -even defy - our conventions on common-sense, the realistic and acceptability.
