Cats. To me, cats were always the worst animals to have as pets. Id loved them to death, but as they grow they typically become aloof, uninterested in you, only rub against you or recognize you when they want something. Sometimes theyll stare at you like they want you, then when you reach for them they run away. Bizarre animals. Real selfish animals. You have to respect cats in order to tolerate them. Most cats are resiliently resistant to sentiment. Cats will typically like you more if you, well, identify that you dont really need them. My cat Pepper would always bother me when I didnt want to be bothered... Or put his paw in my mouth as I slept, like some whacko tormenting me briefly. I had a friendship with a cat- person. I loved this cat. But just like cats, ugh, its all about the cat and not you. Today, I told the cat Im done. And I feel bad because I imagine its like a kid taking a family pet BACK to the pet store... Yeah, I loved you when I saw you but after sometime... This little fella is just not gonna work. Hes clawing and chewing up everything. He runs away when I even try to pet him. I dont have time wonder if hell ever behave. Take him back - its ok if there isnt a refund. Now, cats we own. Humans we dont... I hate being that person - but I had to return the cat to the store. What else are ya gonna do? Talk it out? Whats the point... Hes a cat.
