Cavan Burns pays homage to Ira Ford in the Vets office earlier today. We had returned home from our walk on the trails this a.m. and he began licking an area on the inside of a rear hock. There were two puncture wounds... long story short (and remembering Chaos!!), he has been at the Vets for observation since. The Vet thinks it was a dry strike (no venom present) now as there is no traumatic swelling, etc. We were walking on nice sandy trails at the end of a lake where it becomes swampy. The southern U.S. is not known for its nice snakes. He did not yelp or anything. As I was explaining to the Vet that this was not surprising because of how stoic they are, he is laying on his side whining non-stop because he wanted me to take him home. The irony -!
