Celebrate the Summer Solstice! The two still points around which the year turns like a pair of interlaced spirals are the solstices- literally, “the sun’s standstill” – when winter spills into summer and summer into winter again. We rightly acknowledge these two pivotal stations of the year as momentous gathering times: in the heart of winter, we gather in the home as a family; in the heart of summer, we gather outside as a larger clan of related kindred. For researches into DNA and the human genome reveal that we are all related; the blood that flows in our veins has common ancestry. - John Matthews
