Celebrity Endorsements for Book Authors Adventures in Self-Publishing: should you try to get someone famous to endorse your book? Its a tried and true marketing tactic. You get instant credibility. Hopefully youll also get access to that famous persons loyal following. And you can brag to your buddies that you rub shoulders with (drop famous name here). But is it worth the effort? And what do you have to do in return? When my first book, a non-fiction, was published years ago, I sought out a high profile person in my field for an endorsement. I had read their book and so was able to comment on it cogently. I complimented her on her writing style (which, I told her truthfully, had inspired me to write my non-fiction in a flowing, engaging way, rather than being stodgy).
