CentreStage Theatre Company (Grades 9 - 12) will be bringing to the stage the rock musical RENT School Edition March 27 - 29. An aspiring musical about friends and artists struggling with addiction, poverty, AIDS and most of all, love. (Adapted for High School Performers) Set in the East Village of New York City, RENT School Edition is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages. Book, Music and Lyrics by Jonathon Larson 2 Acts, Book Musical, Pop/Rock, Thru Sung/Operetta Rated PG-13 Directed by Amy McQuade AUDITION INFORMATION: Auditions are this Sunday, January 11 from 4 - 8 pm at Encore Dance Studio (706 Devon Street). This does include callbacks. Requirements: Please prepare 30 seconds of a pop/rock song and 30 seconds of a monologue consecutively, preferably memorized. Recommended music from another musical in the pop/rock genre, such as Next to Normal, Spring Awakening, Jesus Christ Superstar, among others. You can also choose something more mainstream like Kelly Clarkson or One Republic. Monologues should relate to subject matter from RENT. You may also choose selections of music or monologues from RENT. Performances are March 27 - 29 at 7:30 pm with regular rehearsals on Sundays from 4 - 8 pm starting January 18.
