Chadron Police arrest two for an early Friday morning burglary at Cheema’s Liquor in Chadron. Around 4:00 A.M. Sergeant Wallage found the glass to the front door of Cheema’s Liquor Store broken in and discovered a burglary in which subject(s) took liquor and cigarettes and fled the area. The burglary was similar to two other attempted burglaries at Cheema’s where a subject(s) took a rock and tried to bust out the front door glass on July 28th and August 23, 2013. Chadron Police, working with the store owners, installed a law enforcement video surveillance system inside the business. The surveillance video from early Friday morning led police to 37 year old, Orlando Roan Eagle and 27 year old, Jon Short Bull. The subsequent investigation leads to the arrest of Roan Eagle and Short Bull for Burglary (at Cheema’s), a Class III felony. The police is following up with Cheema’s to determine the amount of merchandise taken and the damage to the front door. Lieutenant Rick Hickstein says, “This is a good example of the Chadron Police Department working hand-in-hand with our local business as well as using technology, to solve and prevent crime. This investigation took us most of the day and the officer’s and deputies’ hard work paid off. We were able to solve several crimes and put two offenders in jail.” The Dawes County Attorney’s Office and the Dawes County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Chadron Police Department.
