Chairs IMPARD Executive Council meeting Sponsor all IAS preliminary exam qualifiers to higher training: Omar to IMPARD Vyas presents resume of IMPARD functioning SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13- Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has asked Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPARD) to sponsor all the students of Jammu and Kashmir qualifying preliminary examination of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) for further training outside the State to prepare for final examination. ‘You should support all the successful candidates of preliminary examination of IAS and help them to receive further necessary training, if they are willing, in the reputed and recognized Institutes outside the State so that they prepare in a better way to qualify the final examination’, he told IMPARD and said that J&K youth are second to none in talent. He said they could prove their mettle at national and international stages if provided opportunity and guidance appropriately. The Chief Minister was receiving brief at the 12th meeting of Executive Council of J&K IMPARD here on Friday. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary Planning B.R. Sharma, Director General IMPARD B.B. Vyas, Commissioner-Secretary Rural Development Farooq Ahmad Peer, Secretary General Administration Department M.A. Bukhari and other senior officers. In a detailed PowerPoint presentation, Director General IMPARD, B.B. Vyas presented resume of the functioning of Institute and referred to new initiatives taken to upgrade and improve the performance of the Institute. He said as many as 250 annual programmes of four different natures are being presently conducted in the Institute which include foundation training for KAS qualifiers, capacity building for Panchayat members and refresher courses for in service officers. He said IMPARD is provided training to 80 KAS aspirants at its Srinagar centre and 80 at Jammu centre presently. Mr. Vyas said that facilities like website, computerization and digitalization of library, video conferencing, infrastructure development, construction of bore well, ATM facility and biometric attendance are being put in place in the two centres of IMPARD. He said 14 new creations have been notified to give strength to the faculty of the Institute.
