Challenged by Leon Black 10 albums that impacted my life (and how) Chronological Order: 1 >>>Michael Jackson Thriller - the advent of music videos helped, but this pop/rock album taught me as a young boy that the color of a mans skin does not matter to me. Its just a shame his didnt stay the same... If youre surprised to see this album on my list, pay attention to the rock undertones he has in his music. youtube/watch?v=oRdxUFDoQe0 2 >>>Twisted Sister Stay Hungry - my introduction to heavy metal, and damn if they didnt do it with style. Taught me to love metal even though I was still listening to some pop/rock. youtube/watch?v=V9AbeALNVkk 3 >>>Ozzy Osbourne The Ultimate Sin - among the tracks I listened to repeatedly, Killer of Giants taught me I ultimately wanted deeper lyrics than Lightning Strikes from the same album... youtube/watch?v=Uy1Ag1ucVA0 4 >>>Metallica Master of Puppets - taught me I love metal... A LOT... especially at an accelerated rate with lyrics that held meaning. Prompted me to learn to play the bass guitar and also changed my taste in vocals from high to low. youtube/watch?v=md3B3I7Nmvw 5 >>>Overkill Under the Influence - taught me to find joy again in higher pitched or unconventional vocals. Taught me that I actually do enjoy their influence of punk in their lyrics and music... A LOT. (note that I previously was not a fan of Overkill) youtube/watch?v=U2i_aJA11e0 6 >>>Sacred Reich The American Way - as I was becoming a metal only kind of guy, the music style of this album combined with the funky metal track 31 flavors taught me I didnt want to paint myself into a corner or to be one dimensional in my musical tastes. youtube/watch?v=7tSX4EexAe0 7>>>Faith No More The Real Thing - pushed me to actually include bands outside the metal realm in my album purchases. youtube/watch?v=j4tsGWdarHc 8>>>Sepultura Chaos A.D. - broke my distaste for gutteral vocals. youtube/watch?v=Q_WHGV5bejk 9>>>Stuck Mojo Pigwalk - my introduction to the realm of metal with rap style influence and the realization that theres nowhere metal cannot go if its done right. youtube/watch?v=nJdidaCY-XY 10>>>Overkill Ironbound - secured my belief that metal stripped down to its core still holds extreme value to me. Secured my belief that even nearing 50 (both singer & bassist) that age is just a number and the spirit is ageless. Prompted me to start making lyric videos for my personal all-time favorite band such as the two I linked here. youtube/watch?v=A6W3w8JntOA Thanks if you actually took the time to read all this. I accepted this challenge for personal reflection more than anything. So now I am supposed to challenge 10 (at least) people to list 10 (at least) albums that had an impact on them. Not sure what this whole internet challenging is about... guess its a social interaction kinda thing. Whatever that is... Anyhoo, heres the 10 challenges from me. You can feel free make a simple list or get all wordy like me... or you can ignore this completely, thereby bucking the trend: Jennifer Dolby Jake Townsend Jazmyn Hollon Jerilee Marie Clinton Hollon Brittany Noel Koepke Matt Dargis Trina Dargis Tim Stone Shannon Glascock Hewins Remember to tag me in your post so I can check out your lists!
