Challenges before new government of India: 1. GDP growth should increase to near 10%! Currently it is about 4.7%. 2. Tax payers should constitute at least 10-15% of the population! Currently about 3% population pays income tax. 3. Inflation is 9% or actually more, it must get down to below 4%! 5. India needs 10 million jobs per annum for a decade to get people move above poverty! Currently in last 5 years there were literally no new jobs added. This is the biggest challenge, in my opinion. 6. Reduce or remove subsidies on fuel and other goods. 7. Ensure drinking water from the tap! 8. Ensure adequate electricity production and distribution! 9. Make Yamuna and Ganga navigable. Let medium size freight ships carry cargo from Delhi to Diamond harbor port. This project will transform UP, Bihar and W. Bengal in industrial powerhouse to generate jobs and sustainable development. This can generate at least 5 million direct jobs and equal number of jobs in allied services. The know-how can be shared from Europeans, as they use Rhine and Danube as their waterways successfully, while maintaining purity of water. 10. Ensure health and sport infrastructure at panchayat level. This will create another 10 million jobs. 11. If recycling and power generation integrated correctly, it will produce another couple of million jobs. 12. Another avenue that can bring growth and prosperity is transport and aviation.
