Challenging Yourself To Do Things You Never Thought You Could - TopicsExpress

Challenging Yourself To Do Things You Never Thought You Could Do! The past three weeks have been a challenge and fun at the same time. My wife, Carmen, and I, completed a 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse by JJ Smith. I also completed my second Spartan Run last Saturday at AT&T Park. First things first! I decided that I needed to reset and clean out my body. My doctor recommened JJ Smiths 10-Day Green Smoothie and then I heard JJ Smith interviewed on a morning talk show. I dont normally follow the latest fad diet but this lady was making a lot of sense. She tells you exactly what you are going to eat for 10 days and gives you the exact green smoothie receipe she wants you to drink everyday. I will be honest and she is honest in her book...the first 3 days suck!!!!!!! Day 4 things started turning around. JJ Smith said by day 4 that we would start feeling better and she was right. I was not craving meat or bread...but I missed my coffee. To make a long story short, we made it through the 10 days without cheating -- I lost 9 1/2 lbs and Carmen lost 9 lbs. We are now having green smoothies every morning and I have decided to be as gluten free as I can. I did feel a difference after being gluten free for 10 days; I felt more energenic and my eczema improved. If you are interested in trying the cleanse you can purchase her book on Amazon. My second big event was completing my second Spartan Race. It was over 3 miles and somewhere between 18 and 21 obstacles. We couldnt agree how many we actually did because the map was wrong. The HAWC Team finished 7th out of over 300 other teams. Although our first race was much harder, this one had its challenges. We ran up and down the stairs at AT&T Park with challenges mixed in. I am very proud of my client Madison Cronin; she finished her 1st Spartan Race and she also received the news that she has been accepted into the Navy. I admire her for her determination to meet every challenge in the race and to join the brave men and women defending our country. She is a true Spartan. My best to you Madison! Dont be afraid to challenge yourself. Age is only a number. I have never done anything like a Spartan Race in my life and I decided at the age of 53 to do the hardest one first. My first Spartan Race was in June and was over 13 miles and 28 obstacles. At mile 7 I wanted to give up. I downed a Goo Packet (for you endurance athletes, you will know what that is) found my second wind and finished the race. Yesterday I completed the easiest Spartan Race with a finger I broke 3 weeks ago. Some may say Im nuts but I wanted that second race so bad that I was willing to take the chance. My doctor recommeneded against doing the race...but she was a Spartan too and she said she knows I was going to do it anyway. She advised that I tape the hell out of my finger. Carolyn (our massage therapist) taped up my finger so well that I was able to complete the race with no problem. Thanks Carolyn! Dont sell yourself short. Never say you cant do anything, instead say to yourself, What do I need to do so that I can do this thing? Imagine what you will feel like when you accomplish any goal you give yourself. Dream a little. If you always wanted to be a certain size, close your eyes and imagine what if feels like to be that size. In my case, I imagined what it would feel like crossing the finish line; thats what kept me going when I had bands around my ankles jumping from bleacher to bleacher yesterday or when I had to do 25 box jumps right before the finish line. Get all the stuff out of the way and cross your finish line.
