Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS For Immediate Release: Contact: Glenn Luckett 812-883-0455 ARCA/CRA Super Series Heads to the Famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway Saturday Salem, IN (June 25, 2013) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS and its ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway this Saturday for the Winchester 100 at the challenging half mile owned by local Randolph County businessman Charlie Shaw. Saturday’s CRA event will be a part of a full weekend of ARCA sanctioned racing at Winchester that will include racing action from the ARCA Truck Series on Saturday night. The ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards will practice and qualify on Saturday and will compete in the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 on Sunday afternoon. Saturday’s event will be the 37th ARCA/CRA Super Series race that Winchester Speedway has hosted since the series inaugural 1997 season. Three time and defending ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny Van Doorn is now the series all-time winner at Winchester Speedway with four wins, two of those came last season including this event. Three time series Champion Scott Hantz is tied with former two time series Champion Brian Ross and Bull Baker for second most wins with three apiece. Hantz is the only one of that group who is entered for Saturday night’s event. Rick Turner is the only other former series Winchester winner who is entered. 1997 inaugural series points Champion Kenny Tweedy is currently tied with 2012 Boyne Machine Company Rookie of the Year Travis Braden for the series points lead after only three events so far this season, both are entered for Saturday’s event. Braden has a Winchester victory in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. The number 21 team owned by Tim Bennett is currently third in series owners points with drivers Joe Beaver and Derrick Griffin, Beaver will be back behind the wheel on Saturday. Also entered are CRA regulars Jay Niewiek, Nick Gullatta, Colin Nickolai, as well as Terry Fisher Jr. and Damon Ecoff who will make their 2013 series debuts on Saturday. The series three Boyne Machine Rookie of the Year Candidates are all entered for Saturday’s event, 15 year old Anderson Bowen and Ali Kern are currently tied for the series rookie lead followed closely by Brandon Oakley. Ambia, Indiana native Karl Weber is entered to make his second ever series start on Saturday. Three drivers are entered for ARCA double duty this weekend, former ARCA/CRA Super Series full time contender Mason Mingus, who is second in ARCA Racing Series points to date, will jump back behind the wheel of his ARCA/CRA Super Series late model on Saturday. 15 year old Kyle Benjamin, who last season scored a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory at Winchester, is also entered for both events. Benjamin is running a limited ARCA Racing Series schedule this season along with selected starts with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Benjamin became the ARCA/CRA Super Series youngest ever winner last year in July’s Lucas Oil Raceway event. 16 year old Austin Self from Austin, Texas will also pull double duty making his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut on Saturday. ARCA/CRA Super Series teams will have an optional unload time period Friday evening from 5 to 7pm. Pits will officially open for series teams at 8am on Saturday. The series first 30 minute practice session will begin at 12:55pm, with a second 30 minute session beginning at 2:55pm. The series will qualify at 4:30pm. The race program will begin at 6pm with the ARCA Truck Series 50 lap event which will be followed by the Winchester 100 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. This weekend’s event will be the second time that these ARCA Sanctioned series have competed together in this event at Winchester Speedway, which owner Charlie Shaw is trying to build into a Central Indiana racing tradition.
