Champions Tour Has Better Rivalries Than PGA So you can watch - TopicsExpress

Champions Tour Has Better Rivalries Than PGA So you can watch an event, know who will be fighting for the title on Sunday, and watch how it unfolds. Last weekend was a great example. While the PGA was playing a mainly no-name tournament outside Tampa (Find: Tampa Bay golf deals), the Champions Tour was in California with all of its big names competing for a title. Langer and Kenny Perry were dueling it out in the final group while Colin Montgomerie sat in his car waiting to see if he would make a playoff. Fred Couples emerged but Kirk Triplett, Michael Allen and Duffy Waldorf were all in contention too. Its intriguing to watch new players rise and find success. Its much simply to watch players you know compete week after week. Since the Champions Tour plays, on average, two times a month, most of the players show up most of the weeks. And they have this weekend. They will show up and play for three days, but the odds are good that Langer, Couples, Montgomerie, Perry, Triplett, Allen and Waldorf will all be in contention on Sunday. And, before it gets disregarded as the old guys tour (thats why its not called the Senior Tour anymore), know that the top guys can compete with anyone in golf. Langer showed that at last years Masters and Id expect one of them to be a factor again when this years Masters comes around the second weekend in April. They, like the PGA, are preparing for that event. Only the Champions Tour will have all of its big names, not just a small number. You wont have a John Senden or Chesson Hadley winning the tournament. Instead, it will be a guy you know. A guy youve seen play. A guy you can root for or against. It might not be the best Tour, but right now it has the best rivalries at the top of the game. Players to watch at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic 1. Bernhard Langer – The top man in points continues to be in the running to win each week, even if he finishes second. Hes a member of three of the best golf courses in Florida (Miami golf courses map) back home but knows many other courses like theyre his home. 2. Fred Couples – Couples showed on Sunday why he is one of the biggest draws on the Champions Tour. He can finish and compete with anyone. 3. Colin Montgomerie - His final round 62 to put himself in contention at the Toshiba Classic is something to build on. 4. Kirk Triplett – Along with Couples, hes one of the few who have defeated Langer this season. Triplett did it to win the ACE Group Classic on one of the best golf courses in Naples (Naples golf courses map 5. Kenny Perry – It looked like he would be the guy last week in California, but a pack sat near the top of the leaderboard on the final nine and Perry wasnt able to prevail. bit.ly/1g5auYg
