Changing your small world may not necessarily affect the political culture of the country. You may have changed your orientation, value and views and then think that it will translate to a change in Nigerian political system simply because you are a Nigerian but a deeper look will show you that you are just a grain in a pyramid of rice... you can just be plucked out with the pyramid still in tact... That is Nigeria. Be the change you want to see... it begins with you is the propaganda statement they sold to us to make us believe that the developmental change we crave need not start with the government but with us. It is fallacious. It is an Argumentum ad Hominem. Across the world, there are two practical changes in a Sovereign State that begins with the people... they changing the govt through elections or changing the govt through revolution. Both changes require Unity among the suffering masses, but alas! they know it, so they divide us with religion and tribe and evoke sentiments of yesteryears... So they can maintain the status quo.
